Shopify launches Burst, a free stock photo site

Shopify, the popular Ottawa-based e-commerce platform, has made it easier for you to add a visual punch to your marketing and communications content.

Earlier this month, Shopify launched Burst, a stock photo website offering a variety of images for free. x

The photos are aimed at the platform’s 377,500+ e-commerce store owners, but all content is listed under Creative Commons Zero License which means anyone can use them, in any way you want, with any edits you want and without attribution. (The photographer’s info is listed though, so you can give him or her a shout out if you want to.)

What does this mean for you?

You can find a Shopify Burst high-resolution photo to add to your blog post, your newsletter, your printed promotional material, your social media posts, or wherever else might make sense for you. Best of all, you know it can be used or altered in any way. You don’t need to  be a Shopify customer or even an e-commerce seller at all.

What we think

We think it’s fantastic that a local company is offering free stock photos for the masses. The quality is great though the options are still a bit limited. (For now. Shopify says that hundred of images will be added every week.) Overall, we think Shopify’s Burst can be a great addition to your current content strategy.
